Fad Diet
Nutritional Information
I don't know about you, but I see a different fad diet making the rounds every year. There are so many, I can't keep up. The fad diet industry, either through book sales or lose-weight-now pill sales makes millions. Instead of wasting their money on the latest fad diet book, I have chosen a more practical approach that gives better results and is much more affordable-virtually free.
You can find good nutritional information all over the internet. Be careful though. I have learned that some "doctors" in the media and on the net aren't really doctors at all. When I look for nutritional and diet information on the internet, I have discovered that the best web sites are the ones that end in ".org", ".gov", and ".edu". Once I found some reliable nutritional information on the net and incorporated it into my daily regimen, I found that I was able to lose weight and sleep better. My mood and general outlook on life improved.
Remember the "Food Pyramid" that the government began emphasizing years ago? Perhaps you are Canadian... the Canadian government promotes the Canadian Food Guide. These dietary models form the basis of a solid, healthy eating plan. They are so simple to understand and will set your diet on the right course. These plans were developed using thorough research studies.
I noticed that after I developed a solid nutritional and healthy eating plan, I didn't feel like I was on a "diet" anymore. When I made healthy eating a part of my daily life, I no longer worried about counting the calories in everything I ate. I no longer need to calculate in my head how many minutes I have to spend on the treadmill to burn off the occasional sweet that I ate. My overall healthy eating habits make up for the occasional treat. If you spend a little time learning about healthy eating habits, and put those habits to use, you can forget about all the fad diets.
