Many people suffer from uncomfortable digestion problems. Acid Reflux is one such condition when acid from the stomach inflames the esophagitis. This causes heartburn which can be quite painful. There are many different Acid Reflux remedies, either over the counter drugs or natural remedies. It's a matter of preference and finding out what works for you.
Drugs obtained at the pharmacy can be effective for some people. They won't cure the condition but they will lessen or stop the symptoms, as they work to suppress the acid. Some of them may present side effects, however. Acid Reflux remedies of this sort fall into two main categories. The Antacids are the most popular and they are sold under various brand names. They work by neutralizing the acid. The other category is the Histamine Receptor Antagonists, which work by lessening the amount of acid build up in the stomach. Several different brands are available for this treatment. Some people prefer Acid Reflux remedies which are natural. This avoids the possibility of side effects if taken properly and some remedies can become part of daily routine, helping to prevent a re-occurrence of the symptoms.
Some sufferers go on detoxification for a while, drinking only water and taking probiotics. This may be further than you want to go, but drinking extra water each day may help to restore the correct pH levels in the stomach. Herbal teas, containing ingredients such as peppermint, ginger or liquorices is another recommendation. Other Acid Reflux remedies include the Artemisia Asictica (Wormwood herb), and eating a good portion of fiber each day. Garlic is also an option, as it destroys pathogenic organisms that the acid can't cope with. The garlic must be chewed or crushed. Ginger works for a lot of people and can be crushed into food, taken in tablet form or made into ginger tea. Acid Reflux remedies can include enzymes. The papaya enzyme can be taken as a capsule.
Prevention is better than cure, of course, and there are certain steps which can be taken to ward off the condition. Acid Reflux remedies which can be long term include not smoking before or during a meal and eating at a dinner table in a good sitting posture. It's also a good idea not to drink alcohol at mealtimes and to chew food very thoroughly and not to rush. It's good to take a little walk before eating but not to do anything strenuous for a while, after eating. Acid reflux remedies may be trial and error or you could be more precise and make a note of any foods that may trigger heartburn. The usual suspects are onions, cabbage, cucumbers and beans.
