Cellulite

Men Can Have Cellulite Too!

Sometimes when I hear a group of women talking, I will hear the dreaded subject of cellulite come up. Women seem to not mind talking about their chunky thighs or their bulging buttocks. I cannot recall ever hearing a man say the word cellulite when describing his own body. Men though, as my own body can attest, are nearly as likely to suffer from cellulite as women. We just develop it in other areas of the body.

The reality is that women just worry more about their cellulite and body image than we men do. I can have a good day without worrying about being a little overweight, having cellulite on my stomach or having a bad hair day. We men just don't worry about our body image the way women often do. Women might feel better about their own body image if they keep in mind how little their men worry about theirs.

Say I'm one of those men who does notice his cellulite. I'm probably not going to talk about it with my guy friends or even my spouse. Most men feel worse about revealing their insecurities to others. We are worried about being thought of as "weak." If you are a woman reading this article, and you want to talk to your partner about cellulite, be very careful. Don't be surprised if you get a defensive response. If your mate decides to bring up the subject himself, be very careful talking about it.

As a man, I am less likely to have cellulite than a woman because men tend to be more active than women. We are more likely to have toned legs and buttocks than women. We men see problem cellulite areas in our abs and chest. Women see cellulite problems in the buttocks and legs. Cellulite in the legs and buttocks is more likely to be noticed. We men are not immune from the cellulite issues that worry many women. We are less likely to attempt treatment and would rather just live with it. We can seek treatment though. Cellulite in men is no different than cellulite in women. We're just less likely to deal with it.
