Chinese Medicine School

Although a traditional Chinese medicine school might not be such a big deal here, it is certainly seen as important in China. The alternative medicine craze that has been sweeping this country in the last few years is nothing that is at all true in the country of China. On the contrary, what we can learn in Chinese medicine schools is the same wisdom that has been taught in China for centuries. Alternative healing, acupuncture, acupressure, and of course, the knowledge of Chinese herbal medicine and meridians, are all things that have been used for at least a few thousand years over in the east. Although western medicine is only just starting to understand the connection between mind and body, it is nothing new to the Chinese.

The problem is that if you want to study at a Chinese medicine school, unless you have an in, it is hard to see just what is the best way to go. There is a certification for Chinese medicine schools in the United States, but how do you really know what makes one better than the other if you have not been immersed in the tradition for your whole life? For many Americans, just the revelation that the Chinese medicine works is quite something, so how do you know which ones produce the best doctors? This has been something that I have been trying to figure out but it has not been an easy thing to do for me.

Ultimately, as far as I can tell, the way that most of the folks that I know who learn acupuncture healing have gotten involved in a Chinese medicine school is through someone that they know. They either have their own healer, or else they have a friend who has been healed by a Chinese doctor, and can see how well it works. Then, they will either study traditional Chinese medicine from them, or go to the Chinese medicine school that that particular healer went to. I am not sure if this is the way that it is done, but it seems to be a good enough approach. It is certainly as good of a way as any to choose a school. Apprenticeship might seem a bit quaint to some, but in a Chinese medicine school, it is still an important part of learning. Without studying under someone who knows what they are doing at a Chinese medicine school, how can you learn the art of healing?
