Anti Aging Antioxidant - Key To Staying Young Longer?

People are living longer now than ever. You've heard the expression "40 is the new 30," right? Unfortunately, the process of aging is inevitable. Scientists have discovered that our cells can only divide so many times during our lifetime before they give out. By the time we are 20 years old, most of the cells in our body have already used up half of their available cell divisions in their cell lifespan. By the time we are 40, our cells may only have 30% of their cell divisions left. This is why we age and see the physical changes that goes on inside and outside our bodies. You really can't fight getting aging.

Death occurs when our cells use up the last of their naturally allotted cell divisions. Although this is an inevitable occurrence, there are ways slow down this process. New research gives us hope. There are ways to revitalize and extend the lifespan of cells through anti aging antioxidants. This is great news since most people would like to remain young, active and healthy for as long as possible.

Aging is caused by a lack of anti aging antioxidants. There is a significant amount of scientific research going on now to find a way to avoid the effects of aging. These studies have determined that free radicals are the main culprits for aging. Basically, the more free radicals we have in our bodies, the faster the aging process becomes.

Oxidation is a naturally occurring process of our bodies that creates by-products of harmful, unstable free radicals. Free radicals are not harmful in themselves. In fact, they can be beneficial. The problem with free radicals is that they do not distinguish between healthy and harmful molecules and they often target our otherwise healthy cells. This causes massive cellular damage, tissue damage, and eventually can result in a chronic disease or disorder, such as aging. Because of this, free radicals are considered harmful in our bodies.

Can anti aging antioxidants stop the aging process? Scientists may have found an answer. Anti aging antioxidants are substances whose sole purpose is to act on free radicals and keep them from damaging cell tissues. Anti aging antioxidants are natural substances, but our bodies cannot produce them by themselves. For this reason, we look to plants for our source of anti aging antioxidants.

Fruits and vegetables are just full of anti aging antioxidants. Vegetables such as cabbages, potatoes, cauliflowers, squash, and carrots are all rich in vitamins which act as anti aging antioxidants.

By eating these sorts of antioxidant foods, you can provide your body with the tools necessary to neutralize harmful free radicals. The most studied antioxidant food sources are those that are rich in vitamins C and E, beta carotene and the mineral selenium. Supplements can be a great additional source of anti-oxidants. However, doctors still advise that you find your antioxidant food source from your diet.

Increase your consumption of anti aging antioxidants and increase your chance of staying young longer.

  • ORAC Score And Antioxidants Explained

What is ORAC? ORAC stands for Oxygen Radical Absorption Capacity. It is an analysis that measures the antioxidant power of a substance. Specifically, it quantifies the amount of time it takes a substance to neutralize an oxidizing agent. And antioxidants are what neutralize these agents. Oxidizing agents, called Oxygen Radicals and Free Radicals are explained thoroughly in the article, Stop Free Radical Damage and Slow Your Aging. In short, they are terrorists to the body, damaging and destroying your body's cells.

  • The Power Of Antioxidants

We are going to explore a very important subject that is directly related to both aging and disease: Free Radicals. You are probably familiar with free radicals, also called Oxygen Radicals. Basically, they are highly unstable molecules that are missing one electron. What they do is travel throughout your body attacking cells, trying to steal the electron they are missing.
