Fall Asleep Easier With Alternative Non-Mainstream Methods

Do you ever have trouble falling asleep? Maybe you've asked a friend or family member what they do to fall asleep. If you have, you've probably discovered that everyone has a different method. Some might work for you and others might not. Finding the one that works for you is a process of trial and error. Here are a few methods you can try:

Lavender is a natural way to help you relax and fall asleep faster. Some lotions have lavender. You might try a few drops of lavender oil in a bath or even on your pillow. Try a massage with lavender. That will really help relax you. You can do the same thing with chamomile. It will also help you relax and fall asleep. You can try some chamomile tea, or do any of the above with chamomile as well.

Yoga can help you relax and fall asleep when it is time to go to bed. Yoga can help you relieve some stress, as well as make it so you are more tired at night since it uses up energy. Yoga breathing techniques can also help. Meditation is another thing to try. People who meditate have higher levels of melatonin, which helps promote a deep restful sleep. Meditation will also help lower your level of stress, and help you relax.

Increasing the magnesium in your diet can help. Magnesium is a natural sedative, and can help you fall asleep. If your diet lacks magnesium a side effect could be problems falling asleep. Try eating more foods that have magnesium like dark leafy vegetables, legumes, almonds, cashews, or whole grains.

Reflexology is yet another helpful means of relaxation. Reflexology is the idea that every part of your body is reflected on the hands and feet. By massaging your hands and feet (or having someone else do so), you can help get your body ready for sleep. It will also ease your level of stress and help you relax, which will also help you fall asleep sooner.

If you have been in bed for over 20 minutes and have still not been able to fall asleep, try getting up and walking around for a few minutes. Sometimes doing this will then make it a lot easier for you to fall asleep when you get back into bed.

These are just a few out of the ordinary methods to help you fall asleep.
