Atkins Bars
Are you on the Atkins diet? If you are, you've probably noticed Atkins bars at the grocery store or health food store. They are low in carbohydrates and high in protein as the Atkins diet specifies. Atkins bars are kind of like Power Bars. They are great for people on the go who want to stick to a specified diet like the Atkins plan.
There are two different types of Atkins Bars: Advantage bars and Morning Start bars. There is probably no nutritional difference between the two different types as far as the vitamins offered, just a different selection of flavors. Advantage Atkins bars come in flavors like peanut butter granola, chocolate mocha, caramel fudge brownie and coconut brownie. Morning Start Atkins bars come in breakfast-type flavors like cranberry almond, mixed berry and oatmeal raisin. Since the taste is mediocre at best, which type of bar you eat for which meal is really up to you.
Atkins Bars can be eaten either as a meal replacement or as a high calorie snack. Be careful if you are using these as snacks, as they are quite high in calories. You may actually be hurting your diet if you are also trying to cut back on calories as well as ramping up your protein intake. The Atkins bars are have almost as many calories as a meal, so if you are solely using as a meal replacement you should be in pretty good shape.
Buy just one or two Atkins bars at your local grocery store, drug store or health food store to try them out. Remember, the taste isn't for everyone. If you try them and decide that you like them, you can find quite a few stores online that offer Atkins bars at a discount if you order in quantity. You will only save a few dollars by buying a dozen or so, so really be sure you like them before you commit to purchasing just to save a few bucks. None of these types of bars will ever taste like a chocolate bar, but they do serve their purpose. If you are really set on following the Atkins plan, these bars can really help. At least you get to eat something that might satisfy your sweet tooth.
