Sleep Better With The Right Bedroom Setup

Do you have trouble sleeping at night? Maybe you have tried all of the tips to sleep better like sleeping at a regular time, exercising, and eating right, but you still can't sleep. Maybe the problem is that your room just isn't set up right.

The first thing to check is that your room is adequately dark. We naturally sleep at night and are active during the day. For some people even a little bit of light can throw off sleep patterns. Is the light from an electronic device keeping you awake? Maybe you need to cover your alarm clock. Make sure your room is as dark as possible.

Temperature is another very important factor to sleep. Is your bedroom too warm? When we get tired and sleep, our body temperature drops. If the temperature in our bedroom is too high, you are less likely to fall asleep. Keep the bedroom between 60 and 65 degrees Fahrenheit.

Think about what you do in bed. Are you using your bed as a couch or bed? Do you watch TV in bed or do work in bed? If you are, you may be associating the bed with something besides sleep. This could keep you from getting a good night's sleep. Make your bed just a place for sleep. This will make it easier to fall asleep at night.

Here's a unique one: if you allow your pet to sleep in the bedroom, reconsider. Pets often wake up at night and move around. The noise they make might be waking you up at night. Let them sleep somewhere else.

Many factors can keep you from falling asleep at night. Take some of these steps to make it easier to sleep, you will sleep better, and fall asleep sooner.
